About us
The conference aims to examine the regional impact of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in India, with a focus on southern states. GST, introduced to create a unified tax system, improved transparency and compliance, but also generated region-specific challenges due to variations in economic structures and fiscal capacities. Southern states have experienced issues such as revenue shortfalls, dependence on compensation, compliance burdens on MSMEs, and sectoral imbalances. These concerns have raised questions about fiscal equity and Centre-State relations. Despite these challenges, the states have shown resilience through administrative innovations, digital tax systems, and adaptive fiscal strategies. The conference seeks to analyse these concerns and evaluate the impact of GST on growth, employment, and sectoral performances and focuses on equity and inclusion, exploring cooperative federalism and policy reforms for an inclusive GST framework. Overall, the conference aims to generate region-specific insights, contribute to academic research, and provide policy recommendations to strengthen GST as an equitable, inclusive, and sustainable tax system aligned with national development goals.
About the College: Ballari Institute of Technology and Management was started under the aegis of T.E.H.R.D. Trust, Ballari in the year 1997. The Institution is recognized by Govt. of Karnataka, approved by AICTE, New Delhi and is an Autonomous Institute under Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. About the ICSSR-SRC: Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) was established as an autonomous body in 1969 by the Government of India to promote research in social sciences in the country on the recommendation of Prof. V.K.R.V. Rao Committee. Prof. V.K.R.V. Rao is also Ex-Member of Parliament from Ballari Lok Sabha Constituency and also served as Union Minister for Education, Youth Services, Shipping & Transport. The Southern Regional Centre (SRC) was established on 1st February 1973 in collaboration with the Osmania University and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The founders of the Southern Regional Centre were Prof. Rasheeduddin Khan and Prof. G. Ram Reddy. The major role of the SRC is to act as an agent of the ICSSR within the southern region; to act as the representative of the social scientists of the region and to bring their ideas and problems to the ICSSR, New Delhi; to provide a platform for the social scientists of the southern region; to come together for the promotion of social science research and to serve as the link between the social scientists of the southern region, national and international community of social scientists.
About the Department: It established in the year 2007 and proudly highlights its numerous accolades, including ranking 35th among Top B-Schools in the South by BW Business World and 88th among Top Private B-Schools nationwide. Notable achievements include securing the 189th spot among All India Top Private MBA Institutions by OUTLOOK 2023 and placing in the top 50 within the South Zone by both OUTLOOK and THE WEEK. It offers a diverse range of specializations viz. Business Analytics, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Finance, and Human Resource Management, supported by strong industry and international partnerships with institutions like Dhaka International University, Bangladesh, Dr. Seotomo University and QSpider, Bengaluru. Call For Paper
Paper presenters/authors are advised to prepare and submit the manuscript in accordance with APA format. Full length papers should not exceed 10 pages which includes title page, an abstract, keywords, introduction, objectives, results and discussion, conclusions and references in soft copy may be sent to the conference email before the deadlines. The authors have to clearly mention their designation, affiliation and complete address for correspondence with e-mail and contact number. The manuscript should be submitted in MS-Word and PDF formats in A4 size neatly typed with Times New Roman with 12 font size and 1.5 paragraph spacing. Selected research papers/articles should be accompanied with a declaration by the author(s), stating that the contents of the research paper have not been published elsewhere. The papers satisfying the guidelines and plagiarism norms (less than 20% including AI plagiarism) will be accepted for publication in conference proceedings as ISSN/ISBN special volume on payment of extra charges for publication in addition to registration fees.
